Kittson County Legion Baseball

Dear Players, Parents, and Community Members,

Legion Baseball is one step closer to becoming a reality in Kittson County for the summer of 2027!

Team registration for the 2027 season takes place in January, so planning is already underway to ensure we are ready to field a competitive and successful team. League schedules are finalized in April 2027, giving us the flexibility to build a schedule that best fits our players and community.

We invite all interested players, parents, and community members to attend an informational meeting:

Wednesday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Community Center

This meeting will provide an opportunity to learn more about bringing American Legion Baseball back to Kittson County, ask questions, and become involved in the planning process.

A Kittson County Legion Baseball team would compete in American Legion District 9, North Subsection. Current teams in that subsection include:

• Warroad, Greenbush-Middle River, Stephen-Argyle, Roseau, Red Lake County

In addition, we anticipate scheduling games with several nearby District 9 South Subsection teams and neighboring North Dakota programs, including:

• Crookston, Fosston, Fertile, Twin Valley, Ada, Langdon, Grafton, Minto, Thompson

There is still important work to be done before opening day. We will be discussing:

• Team budget

• Field availability

• School affiliation requirements

• Free agency opportunities for neighboring communities

• Coaching staff

• Team name and branding

• Uniforms and equipment

• Fundraising and sponsorships

• Volunteer opportunities

The good news is that the initial registration fee ($500) and team insurance ($500) are already being addressed through local sponsorships. In many communities, the local American Legion Post serves as the primary team sponsor, and we are working to establish similar partnerships here.

A Senior American Legion Baseball team is generally made up of players ages 15–19, although younger players may be eligible in certain situations. To build a successful and sustainable program, we are looking for a commitment from approximately 15–20 players.

This is an exciting opportunity to create a program that will serve all of Kittson County and surrounding communities. Legion Baseball provides young athletes with additional opportunities to compete, develop their skills, and represent their hometowns throughout the summer.

We hope you will join us on Wednesday, August 12, as we take the next step toward bringing Legion Baseball back to Kittson County. Your ideas, support, and participation will help make this vision a reality.
